The Wayzn story

The Wayzn story

Like many products, the Wayzn Smart Pet Door was invented out of necessity. The idea came to us on a snowy night on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe. We were talking about how much money we'd spent to board the dogs for two days, and Mike had a thought: What if we could use our phones to let our dogs out using our sliding patio doors when we weren't home? It sounded like a good idea so we decided to build a prototype and people started asking for them!

So we took the plunge. We started the company because we wanted dogs everywhere to have access to the yard when their people weren’t home. We had a hunch that, like us, most pet owners didn’t want the security, weather and installation headaches that come with the traditional dog door. We loved the idea of using a smartphone to control an existing sliding door because it solves all of the "pet door" problems and gives people the flexibility to go anywhere, anytime and know their pets are fine.

We couldn't be happier with how the Wayzn Smart Pet Door turned out. We can let the dogs out from the couch or the car. We have the freedom to leave anytime without worrying about our dogs. And our dogs love it, too!

Since developing the Wayzn Smart Pet Door we've been busy adapting the technology to solve other home automation challenges, and we've developed the Wayzn Pet Tag, a perfect companion to the Smart Pet Door. The future for Wayzn is bright, as we pursue our vision to be part of a world where business does good, people are free, and pets are healthy and loved.
