CES 2021 Wayzn interview on Bionic Buzz

Bionic Buzz® got to interview Adam Smithline from Wayzn for CES 2021. Home access technology company Wayzn has unveiled its namesake IoT device, the first to be able to turn patio, porch and garden sliding doors into smart dog doors — without any sawing or drilling: The Wayzn Smart Sliding Glass Door Opener (or “Wayzn Smart Pet Door” for short). Wayzn Smart Pet Door provides a new level of freedom for people and their pets. It lets people safely and securely open and close their sliding door from anywhere, allowing access by dogs or trusted people.

It can be controlled via a free mobile app for iPhone or Android which alerts users when the built-in motion detector senses the dog. It also can be operated via integrations with other smart devices, such as internet cameras, sensors or digital assistants like Alexa.

Wayzn Smart Pet Door works with most brand name 5-, 6- and 8-foot sliding glass doors in good condition, regardless of weight or which direction they open. It installs in minutes without anything needing to be attached to the door or home. It uses advanced AI to keep pets, people and homes safe, and operates off any standard wall outlet (12-volt DC power adapter included) and 2.4 GHz WiFi connection (dual-band is OK).

Thanks to a highly secure Internet of Things platform and architecture, Wayzn Smart Pet Door is protected against attacks and sensitive information is never passed over WiFi by default. When engaged, Wayzn Smart Pet Door also acts as a physical bar to keep the door firmly closed so the door can remain unlocked. If not in use, it swivels upright and out of the way.

Wayzn Smart Pet Door is the winner of a 2020 Protolabs Cool Idea Award and was a CES Editors’ Choice winner and CES 2020 Innovation Award honoree. Wayzn Smart Pet Door also edged out Sony and LG to win the Consumer Technology Association’s Mark of Excellence Award for Emerging Technology.
